Event Overview

Pink Caviar Events was engaged to provide feature décor for the television production Paper Dolls, supplying a striking light-up heart arch for a performance-style scene filmed in Sydney. The project gave our team the opportunity to work in a fast-paced screen production environment, where timing, visual impact and reliability were all essential.

Paper Dolls is an Australian scripted drama series produced by Helium Pictures. The series follows the rise and fall of the fictional manufactured girl group HARLOW after the members are brought together through a reality television format called Pop Rush. The series was created by Ainslie Clouston and released through Paramount+, with Network 10 also connected to the project. We were featured in Season 1, Episode 6: We’re on Tour Bitches.

Unlike a traditional event, a television production requires décor and styling elements to work for the camera, crew movement, lighting, performance blocking and production timing. The feature piece needed to deliver visual energy on screen while being practical enough to install and manage within a live production environment.

For Pink Caviar Events, this project demonstrated the flexibility of our styling and hire range beyond corporate events, gala dinners and school celebrations. It showed how the right feature décor can support a production team’s creative vision while still being delivered with the same structure and professionalism required for live events.

The Brief

The brief was to provide a statement visual element that would enhance the performance environment and contribute to the overall atmosphere of the scene.

The production required a feature that would:

  • Create a strong visual focal point for camera.
  • Add energy, colour and personality to the set.
  • Support the performance style of the scene.
  • Be installed safely and efficiently within production timelines.
  • Work alongside existing lighting, sound and camera requirements.
  • Deliver impact without creating unnecessary complexity for the crew.

The selected piece was Pink Caviar Events’ light-up heart arch. Its shape, illumination and scale made it a strong visual fit for a pop-drama production centred around music, performance and entertainment.

The arch needed to do more than look good in the room. It had to translate on screen, complement the scene’s tone and remain practical in a production environment where every element has to work around camera angles, performer movement and technical setup.

The Challenge

Television production environments come with a different set of pressures compared with live corporate events.

In a live event, the main focus is the guest experience. In a TV production, the priority is what the camera sees, how the set supports the scene and whether every element can be managed within the production schedule.

The key challenges included:

  • Working within a production timeline where delays affect multiple departments.
  • Ensuring the feature piece worked visually under camera lighting.
  • Installing the arch without disrupting the crew, cast or technical setup.
  • Positioning the feature so it supported the scene without blocking movement.
  • Delivering a polished visual outcome in a practical, working set environment.

The other challenge was understanding that screen work often requires restraint. A prop or feature piece may look impressive in person, but it also needs to make sense through the lens. Placement, brightness, proportion and surrounding space all matter.

For this project, the goal was to create visual impact without overcomplicating the scene.

Our Approach

Pink Caviar Events approached the project as a feature décor installation for production use, with the focus on visual suitability, safe delivery and efficient setup.

The light-up heart arch was selected because it offered a clear performance-style feature that could sit naturally within the world of Paper Dolls. The series centres on a fictional pop group, so a heart-shaped illuminated feature aligned well with the entertainment, music and performance feel of the scene.

Our styling and production service is designed to support events and environments where visual presentation needs to align with the client’s objective.

For this project, our role was more focused than full event styling. We were not designing the entire set. Instead, we were providing a specific statement piece that needed to integrate into the production’s existing creative direction.

Planning included:

  • Preparing the feature piece for transport and installation.
  • Understanding the setup requirements of the production environment.
  • Allowing time for placement and adjustment.
  • Ensuring the arch was installed securely and ready for filming.
  • Coordinating around crew movement and production activity.

This practical approach ensured the installation supported the wider production rather than becoming a distraction.

Execution

On the day, our team delivered and installed the light-up heart arch within the production environment.

The installation required attention to both presentation and practicality. The arch needed to be positioned so it could deliver the right visual effect on camera while still allowing space for cast, crew and equipment movement.

Once installed, the feature created an immediate sense of energy and atmosphere. The illuminated shape provided a clear visual anchor for the scene, helping support the performance environment and adding a memorable production element.

The arch worked particularly well because it was visually bold without requiring extensive additional styling. This made it suitable for the production setting, where speed, efficiency and adaptability are all important.

Throughout the process, our team remained focused on delivering the installation smoothly and professionally, ensuring the production team could continue working without unnecessary disruption.

Outcome And Impact

The light-up heart arch contributed a strong visual moment to the Paper Dolls production, supporting the energy and performance-based nature of the scene.

The result was a feature that felt aligned with the tone of the show while remaining practical for filming. It gave the set an added layer of colour, glow and personality, helping create a more engaging environment for the camera.

For Pink Caviar Events, the project demonstrated the value of having versatile décor pieces that can move between events, brand activation and production environments.

The project achieved several key outcomes:

  • It provided a camera-friendly visual feature.
  • It supported the music and performance tone of the series.
  • It added depth and atmosphere to the production environment.
  • It was delivered efficiently within a working set context.
  • It showed how event décor can be adapted for film and television use.

The final result reinforced the importance of selecting décor that is not only attractive, but also fit for purpose. In production environments, the right piece needs to support the creative direction while making life easier for the team delivering the scene.

Why This Worked

This project worked because the feature décor matched the creative context.

Paper Dolls is built around the drama, ambition and energy of the entertainment industry. The light-up heart arch brought a sense of performance and visual personality that suited the world of the show without needing heavy explanation.

It also worked because the delivery was straightforward and reliable. In television production, suppliers need to understand that their role is part of a much larger process. The best outcome is not just a great-looking installation. It is an installation that arrives on time, works as intended and integrates smoothly with the production schedule.

The success of the project came from:

  • Choosing a feature piece that matched the scene.
  • Keeping the installation focused and practical.
  • Supporting the production team’s creative requirements.
  • Delivering a strong visual result without overcomplicating the setup.

This is where event styling and production styling overlap. Both require a strong eye for presentation, but they also require discipline, timing and an understanding of how the final environment will be used.

Closing Statement

Pink Caviar Events supplied and installed a feature light-up heart arch for the Paper Dolls TV production, creating a bold visual moment that supported the energy, style and performance focus of the scene.

This project highlights our ability to support film and television productions with feature décor, reliable installation and flexible styling solutions designed to work in real-world production environments.

"Pink Caviar Events played an integral role in the success of Episode 6 of our TV production of Paper Dolls.
