Today’s question is from Petra P, who asks:
Hi Emilie, my wedding is all set! The issue I have is that I don’t know what to do when the wedding is over. I need help! I don’t think I can trust my friends with this and I do not want to ask my parents to help after everything they have to do. They will be exhausted, and I do not want to put stress on them so late at night. I need to organise the wishing well, gifts and a few other things. The venue said they wouldn’t be responsible for any items overnight. I’m stuck and wondering if you have any useful suggestions? Really could use some advice, Petra
It is good that you are thinking about this early on and not just on the night. Many couples will completely focus on planning their wedding and honeymoon. They will not think about what happens when the night is over and is often overlooked. Issues can arise if this is not taken care of properly. Let see if we can find a solution to help you out.

Find 1 Or 2 Reliable People
Petra as you said you do not want to ask your family and friends, but is there anyone else you can rely on? This is not choosing your best friend, bridal party or family but rather people you can depend on when you are in a pinch. Sit down with your future partner and think about who is most reliable.
Trust The Venue
The venue advised they are not liable for any missing/damaged items that are left overnight. Most venues will put this in their agreements as standard. If you are uncomfortable in leaving the wedding gifts, wishing wells and other items you could opt to take the wishing well and gifts but leave other items behind. These other items could be left overnight and picked up in the morning if the venue allows it. A lot of trust on your part is required if you are comfortable with it. It is entirely dependent on the venue not having an event the next morning. However, if it is on the weekend, there is often an event the next day.

As you can see, there are some options available out there for help after the wedding. As said that most family and friends are happy to help after the wedding.
